Course Description:
This is an introductory class to sustainable product-service system (PSS) design. It aims at exploring what PSS is and how to design a PSS. The class is thus composed of two parts: 1) Understanding PSS, and 2) Designing PSS. In the first module, students will be guided with the notion, examples, process and methods of PSS design. In the second module, students will be given a topic and use the knowledge acquired from the first module to design a PSS through a project or an experiment. Through the class, students will be guided with an overall process of problem-solving at the systemic level. Due to the nature of the subject, the class will cover topics from various fields including design, engineering, management, and marketing.
