In this course you will map the evolution and adoption of crime prevention policy both within Australia and internationally in the context of broader social policy and shifting political landscapes. You will gain critical insight into the theory that underpins social and situational crime prevention as well as criminal justice interventions. You will also explore the challenges and benefits of crime prevention through application of theory in real world scenarios. Throughout the course consideration is given to the limited impact of crime prevention policy on complex criminal and social justice priorities such as Aboriginal over-representation in the criminal justice system and violence against women.
