Course Description:
The course analyzes the ethical, ecological and design principles proposed by
Permaculture as well as its basic techniques. The analysis is addressed as the “permanent culture” (and beyond) and as the sustainable and resilient, intelligent, and regenerative design process, emphasizing its applications to urban and field systems, including intangible energies in order to develop competences, values and skills to improve our world environmental and socioeconomic conditions. The environmental and social aspects, the importance of integrality and interdisciplinarity, the need for systems designed in terms of efficiency and resilience and the implications of the values and principles promoted by permaculture on a personal and community level are studied and practiced. The course aims to provide students with basic skills to design or re-design systems in order to achieve regenerativity.
