AIs are becoming a pervasive tool in a host of application fields. At the heart of this deep learning revolution are familiar concepts from
applied and computational mathematics, notably from calculus, approximation theory, optimization, and linear algebra.
In this course, we will focus on numerical linear algebra such as solving linear systems in various applications and optimization theory.
We can learn programming to concentrate on problems in aforementioned areas of scientific computation.
At the end of the semester, successful students will be familiar with some of the basic mathematics of deep learning.
