Course Title: International Law
Course Number: ESSB-C1070
Course Description: The first part of this course deals with the basics of law in modern society. It addresses questions such as: what is law, where can it be found, how is it organized into different domains, and how is it related to the state? It also shows the development and evolution of international law, including its sources, subjects, and institutions. The second part of the course focuses on the application of international law to the main international challenges today – war, environment, and technology. In this part, we will focus on how international law enables – but also hampers – the development of effective frameworks to deal with international social challenges.
