Course Description:
After completing the course, students will be able to describe some of the ways in which gender and its research are conceptualised as related terms and the mechanisms of intersection between gender and other identity categories (e.g. ethnic background, sexual orientation, class). They can explain key findings and research findings, approaches and theories in some areas of policy and communication studies related to the social impact of gender or policies and measures to address gender inequalities in the Finnish context or in the context of the wider European or international community. They will be able to analyse different social phenomena in the light of what they have learned. He/she will be able to further develop his/her expertise in the subject area in his/her thesis.
