Asian Religion and Ideology
Course Description:
After completing the course, students will be familiar with a) theoretical approaches, b) the relevant methods to investigate, and c) contexts as well as specific case study information on Asian religion and/or ideologies. They can understand and analyze the interweaving of ideologies and religion with culture and society at large. Students will be enabled to reflect on and analyze both historical as well as current developments, structures, and practices.
The course will introduce to and give an overview on processes, contexts and case studies on Asian religion, including belief and value systems and religious practice, and ideologies. Individual courses may focus on one or several Asian regions or regard Asian diasporas, and include historical and/or contemporary contexts.
