Course Description:
This course offers a broad approach to human rights from several scholarly disciplines, and an introduction to the role human rights (can) play in different social fields. Central concepts are introduced, as well as important theories and authors. The perspectives are critical, while remaining accessible for students from very diverse disciplinary backgrounds. The main objective is to introduce students to different scholarly discourses about human rights and/or mobilising human rights frameworks. During the class meetings, experts in different disciplines offer introduction to human rights discourse and the way human rights are mobilised in their field of expertise. This includes law, philosophy, political science, anthropology, health care, IT and more.
