The goal of this lecture is to deepen both Korean and foreign students' understanding not only beliefs
and conceptual thoughts of Korean people in the ancient periods but also the origin of the nation, peop
le, ruling dynasty, or national culture through presentation and analysis of several Korean foundation an
d royal myths for the first half or the course. In the second half of the semester, we will move on to
learn traditional arts of Korea in depth including Korean traditional architecture, classical literature, trad
itional costume, traditional court and folk music and dance, and various traditional paintings.
