Country: Korea, South
Course Title: GLOBAL CHALLENGES AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS TODAY
Course Number: IEE3608
Course Description: “International Relations” (IR) may be defined as the study of relations between nation-states. Its typical concerns include topics such as national security; war and peace; diplomacy and foreign policy; migration and refugees; interstate economic relations; ‘terrorism’; climate change and global environmental challenges; and a host of other, related issues. As you can see, the subject of International Relations is vast, in fact, it is planetary in scope. A six-week introductory course has to strike a balance between adequate coverage of the main concerns of the discipline, and a somewhat more in-depth analysis of one or two select themes of contemporary importance to show how various perspectives from within IR might analyze those themes or issues. And, of course, as with all introductory courses, one significant ambition of the course will be to intrigue and interest the student sufficiently that they will want to come back for more.
