Though migration has always been an important socio- political aspect of domestic and international politics since the beginning of modernity, the advent of neo-liberal globalization followed by the end of the Cold War triggered massive influx and outflow of populations in extremely diverse directions. Now, immigration is not an exclusive issue of western or former colonial powers. Every corner of the globe is receiving huge number of immigrants. The nature of immigrants also became extremely diverse. Americans and Japanese retirees are heading toward central American countries or Southeast Asian neighbors.
