Course Objective
Gaining a broad understanding of the interaction between biosphere and geosphere.
Obtaining experience with oral presentations and written reports.
Learning to give and receive feedback and think critically about broad biogeosciences topics, including those presented by experts in the field.
Learning to find and criticize sources of scientific information.
Students are encouraged to follow their interests and choose their own topic within the scope of the course.
Course Content
Lectures on biogeochemical cycles, evolution, ocean acidification, climate change and sustainability from an interdisciplinary viewpoint.
“Flipped classroom” exercises and discussion sessions based on recorded lectures from experienced scientists in the biogeoscience field.
Student presentations and peer feedback sessions.
Student reports (literature review) on a biogeoscience topic of their own choice.
