Course Objective
After finishing this course, the student:
- has an overview of the impact Christianity has had on European
culture;
- is able to summarize how Christianity managed to obtain a secure
position in the Roman Empire;
- is able to summarize how Christianity shaped medieval thought;
- is able to summarize how the reformation forced Europeans to rethink
church-state relationships as well as concepts like unity and diversity;
- is able to summarize how the Enlightenment provoked believers to
debate the core of
Christianity;
- is able to summarize how the rise of the Nation State forced churches
to rethink their role in
history and to rethink their contributions to national identity;
- is able to summarize how modernity challenges traditional beliefs;
