Course Description:
In this course, students lay an important foundation for the independent study of the original language of the New Testament and of Early Christian, Jewish-Greek, and Greco-Roman sources that will be studied later in the curriculum. Students learn Koinē Greek through attendance of the tutorials, though discussing and correcting assignments together in the class, and through self-study. Students will acquire a basic knowledge of phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics that will enable them to independently read, write, understand, analyse, and translate simple sentences in Koinē Greek.
