Course Description:
The course will focus on introducing different aspects of Japanese culture and society. Each class will start by introducing basic concepts related to the topic. The class will be conducted entirely in English. The purpose of the course is to deepen the students' understanding of Japan and its culture with all its complexities beyond cliches and stereotypes. Students will be expected to review the materials used in the previous class for approximately 90 minutes and prepare for the next class for approximately 90 minutes (180 minutes in total). All materials for this class will be provided either directly (handouts) or via Google Classroom. Students will also submit all their assignments directly or via Google Classroom. Therefore, they will need to obtain the access code by contacting the instructor. Students may be given short assignments (such as question forms or "reaction papers") or quizzes after each class to check their
