Course Title: Global Governance
Course Number: A8512
Course Description: In a more complex and interdependent world, the issues have become even more challenging. Collective efforts of governments, international organizations, non-state actors, and individuals are needed to address these issues, such as the recent pandemic, the wars and conflicts that ruptured in various parts of the world, the humanitarian crisis, increasing poverty, economic insecurity, and climate change. Given the scale and depth of these challenges, global cooperation and collaboration are important. Governance of the efforts to deal with transborder problems has become vital for our world's stability and survival. This course introduces the students to global governance and helps them critically analyze the important issues that transpired and continue to persist, as well as the ideas, actors, institutions, and mechanisms involved in dealing with the issues. The course will focus on three themes: (1) peace and security; (2) human rights and humanitarian actions; and (3) economic governance and sustainable development.
