Course Description:
CONTENT Biochemistry I Chemical nature of cellular components; enzymes and mechanism of enzyme activity; energy interconversions and biosynthetic reactions, including template dependent reactions, and some aspects of control mechanisms. Weekly laboratory session introduces the major experimental tools used in modern biology. OBJECTIVE AIMS - Classroom sessions of this module aims to teach fundamental concepts in biochemistry including topics on Amino Acids, Protein Structure & Function, Enzyme Kinetics, Carbohydrates, Nucleotides and Lipids to the students who do have at least D ?grade in freshman level Biology, Chemistry (NS 102 ? Science of Nature II) and Calculus (MATH 101 & MATH 102) courses. - As a co-requisite the classrooms sessions, laboratory sessions of this module (BIO321L) aims to introduce major experimental methods used in modern biochemistry weekly by simultaneously complementing the in-class covered concepts.
