Course Title: FAMILY’S SOCIOLOGY
Course Number: SOC 313
Course Description: The course proposes a sociological analysis of the family based on the diversity of family systems, models and dynamics observed in Peru and, as examples of comparison, in other Latin American countries. After reviewing the theoretical basis, the various structures and social functions of the family, the course raises the types of organization of families and their evolution in the country according to gender relations in the couple, the figure of children in intergenerational relationships and sociodemographic indicators (fertility, teenage pregnancy). Next, the evolution of family rites (marriage, quinceañera), biographical ruptures (migrations, divorces, deaths), family solidarity through work, mobility and care for children and the elderly are analyzed. as well as social policies aimed at vulnerable families, the problem of domestic violence and the emergence of new forms of coexistence. In a systematic perspective, the articulation of the family with the social context, culture, economy and the State is privileged,
