Course Number: 6LANS005W
Course Description: Pre-requisite: Arabic, Chinese, French or Spanish. Students will be required to attend a testing session upon arrival to confirm eligibility. This module is built on a critical approach to the newly founded discipline of happiness studies. It will introduce key texts in this discipline, and will also give an overview of the main philosophical underpinnings and conceptual approaches to happiness in philosophical traditions. It will then proceed to analyse different conceptualizations and representations of happiness in different contemporary cultural contexts, ranging from the psychological, sociological and political to the literary and artistic, including the ephemeral and comical.
