Course Description:
This course provides students with a basic capacity and opportunity of Japanese Constitution and its history in related to society.
The first part of the course is devoted to the study of the history and fundamental view of the current Japanese Constitution, such as its history and the “purpose” of the constitution compared with Meiji Constitution.
In addition, the “value(s)” of the Constitution, such as gender, age class and rights of minority will be provided to study in this class.
Also lectures and discussions focus on how to think of many cases by Supreme court and the role of the “Law” in Japanese society.
The second part of the course consider the structure of the Japanese government, the composition and powers (branch of government, the relationship between Central and Local Self-governments)
The course provides legal minds for many various cases and thinking ways for both Japanese and international students.
