This course explores how psychological concepts, theories and research findings can be applied to everyday life and changing human behaviour. The main emphasis is on the concept of psychological literacy and "how to think like a psychologist". Topics include psychology as a scientific discipline, an overview of areas such as clinical, organisational and forensic psychology, critical and creative thinking in psychology, and specific areas of public concern such as health-related behaviour, where psychology has a major contribution to make. The practical component focuses on developing graduate attributes such as research and communication skills.
