This course is designed to be an introduction to the history, political institutions, policy and foreign relations of the European Union. We will focus on a historical and theoretical discussion of the establishment of the Union and the process of European integration; the Union's ongoing development (institutions, economy and law); the Lisbon Treaty and the potential for federalisation; the recent rounds of enlargement and current processes of separation; while concluding with the external relations of the Union, with special emphasis on the relations between Europe and Israel.
