The course History of Western Arts and Culture provides a historical and chronological overview of Western art and culture from the late Middle Ages until the 21st century. Students get acquainted with major developments in visual arts, architecture, music, and literature from this period, against a historical background. It is demonstrated how the highlights from these disciplines originate from, reflect, and shape the socio-cultural context of their time, and how these historical developments continue to have their effects on contemporary culture.
