This module will introduce students to writings from the early church, highlighting the rich theological diversity in this era. Students will develop skills in reading ancient primary texts, as well as in engaging with important secondary materials. Key issues to be explored include early biblical interpretation, tensions relating to orthodoxy and heresy, the significance of the councils, and key developments in Christology in this period.
