Course Overview: The overall objective is to provide an overview of theories of human learning and highlight their implications for educational practice. Learning theories can help us explain how people learn in real life. In addition to the lecture component, class discussions and exercises will focus on how the theories help us understand how learning, in various forms and contexts, takes place.Learning theories have implications for motivation for learning, as well as teaching, learning and evaluation approaches. It is hoped that this course will also help students understand themselves as learners and they will be encouraged to draw on their own learning experiences to gain a more in-depth understanding of the material, where appropriate.
