Course Description:
This course develops further students’ proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic leading them to the intermediate level. It will expose students to authentic materials and involve them in out of class activities. By the end of the course, the student will be able to write short to medium-length texts (i.e. hand-written and electronic letters requesting information) and write on topics of personal interest; will be able to initiate and sustain conversations on personal and contextual topics, be able to read simple texts using the dictionary (i.e. weather reports, biographies); and be able to comprehend simple speech on familiar topics, and have some basic knowledge of some aspects of Arab culture (e.g. social customs, religious traditions, family life, etc.).
