Course Description:
This course will explore a selection of twentieth-century literary texts and other art forms that have been labelled "modernist" or "postmodernist" by literary critics. We will trace some of the ways in which modernist experimentation shaped the culture of the early twentieth century, and discuss how and why the term "postmodernist" came to be used to describe changing attitudes and artistic practices in the later part of the century.
