Course Description: GEO> This course will focus on the modern Korean short story, from its inception in the early twentieth century to the present. Literary readings will be covered in tandem with important historical events and social developments such as colonialization, liberation, war, dictatorship, modernization, and democratization. The main goals of the course are to familiarize the student with major works of Korean short fiction and, through this, provide an interpretive framework for understanding Korean society and culture.
