Course Description: This course is designed to equip students with integrated knowledge to be applied in a wide range of community development and program management processes. It also examines the designs, procedures and successful development programs. Students will get basic understanding to the concept of community, participatory development methods, community generating activities, and role players in community development such as government organizations, NGOs, CSOs, CBOs, and donors. They will learn about factors influencing the outcomes of community development initiatives intended to improve the quality of life in Tanzania and other developing countries. It will also focus on processes of community development and the fundamentals of applied program management. Students will then learn how to write a community development grant proposal. This course runs in conjunction with the program's Field Component, during which time students will be given pointed critical analysis assignments meant to guide their learning and tie their coursework to their
