Course Description:
Through this course students will get an opportunity to have an active role in an EU negotiation based on a legislative proposal currently under deliberation at the EU Commission, with the aim of reaching a credible outcome through negotiations. Moreover, while acquiring necessary knowledge about EU institutions and Ordinary Legislative Procedure, the students will experience how multilateral negotiations occur and how personal traits, time pressure, expertise, credibility, etc. influence negotiation outcomes. The simulation includes all the main institutions involved in EU decision-making process. Therefore, every student will be assigned a role based on the selected stakeholders and given instructions of their final goal they should aim to achieve. At the end of the course, the students are expected to have an in-depth understanding of the EU legislative process and the negotiation dynamics among institutions.
