Course Description: 1st part (7 sessions): acoustic and physiological description (organs of phonation) of sounds of speech in French, first in isolation, then their behavior in the spoken chain will be studied: description, classification, transcription. An overview of the characteristics of oral French will be proposed. Knowledge and manipulation of the API (International Phonetic Alphabet - part for the French language) to learn to transcribe phonetically. Some exercises on other languages may also be proposed to establish comparisons. 2nd part (5 sessions): some elements of phonology (the study of the role of sounds in the French system) with presentation of the notions of opposition and variation, combinatorics and distribution, phoneme and variant.
