Course Description:
In contrast to the conventional economic approach, the cultural perspective highlights the various values that cultural organizations try to realize. Therefore it also is called the value based approach. It accounts for the different spheres in which artistic activities are realized and provides a vocabulary that informs the leadership of cultural organizations as well as cultural policies. Topics that are discussed include valuation and valorization of artistic activities, the notion of quality of cultural goods, the financing thereof, the economy of attention, cultural entrepreneurship, and cultural goods as social goods.
