Arts education has a secondary role within the educational system in the Netherlands, where more attention is being paid to cognitive courses. However, it is a misconception that arts education is merely a ‘fun’ contribution to the development of a student. In this course, a wide variation of subjects are dealt with, including: a historic overview of theories of arts education, especially linked to cultural policy; the diversity of cultural educational methods; study programs for cultural education and especially the current Agenda in the field of cultural education and cultural politics, focusing on the trends that have happened in the art world, the educational field, media technology, and the diversity of the population.
