Course Description:
The course introduces the concepts, theoretical perspectives and trends within research
into democratisation. The course starts with a discussion on the fundamental concepts
such as democracy, dictatorship, political rights, democratisation as a phenomenon, and
various processes and stages. The second part of the course discusses various positive
and negative theoretical factors with regard to democratisation. The final part addresses
historical and contemporary trends in terms of democratisation throughout the world.
