Course Title:
Introductory Mathematics
Course Number:
MATH1013
Course Description:
In this unit students will learn the necessary skills to solve problems arising from science, engineering and business related fields through the application of commonly occurring simple mathematical functions and techniques of linear algebra as well as complex analysis. The unit covers the properties, manipulations and solutions of algebraic expressions as well as polynomial, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Students will learn trigonometry and its use in the solution of right angle and acute triangles. Students will be introduced to idea of a complex number together with their applications and use in solutions to polynomial equations. This unit will cover vectors, lines and planes as well as their applications. This unit also covers matrices and their use for solving systems of linear equations through a study of a number of different types of solution methods. Eigenvalues and eigenvectors will also be considered. This unit is designed for those students who have
