Course Description: Students will be introduced to the major theories of psychological development during childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. The course will cover physical, cognitive, and psychosocial development, drawing on the work of Bowlby, Freud, Erikson, Piaget, Vygotsky, and Baltes among others. Reviewing both classic and current research, the course will consider conceptual and methodological issues in developmental psychology. Important aspects of development from conception to late adulthood will be covered. This course aims to provide a conceptual foundation for practice in clinical, counselling, educational, community, and organisational settings with children, adolescents, and adults. Prerequisites must be completed prior to enrolling in this course. It is the students' responsibility to ensure these requirements have been fulfilled.
