Course Description:
This course will consider the background to the formation and development of the European Union. Union institutions, legislation, the relationship between EU law and the national law of the member states will also be examined. The semester will conclude with emphasis on the judicial process, grounds for review and remedies. The successive waves of EU enlargement and of amendments of the Founding Treaties up to the Treaty of Lisbon will also be emphasised.
