Course Title: Catholic Theology, Aboriginal Spiritualities and World Religions: Towards Dialogue

Course Description: Students will develop their knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal Australian Spiritualities and world religions, with a focus on the theory and practice of inter-religious dialogue. Key topics will include: the Vatican II turning-point in Catholic teaching, Euro-centrism and the ‘world church’, Aboriginal Australian Spiritualities, Catholic theology and Indigenous Spiritualities, the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam), the religions of Asia, colonialism and post-colonialism, the globalisation of spirituality, culturally responsive pedagogies, contemporary issues and challenges (for example, fundamentalism, religious conflict and non-violence, human rights, religion and politics, culture and religion).
