The main objectives of the course are to:
1. Introduce and examine key events that have shaped the history of the world
since 1500
2. Explain the rise of Europe to global dominance since 1500 and its decline in
the 20th century
3. Examine the transformations of the international system since the 15th century
4. Introduce and understand various philosophical developments and conceptual
models relevant to various historical events (Feudalism, Enlightenment,
Liberal Democracy, Fascism, Communism, Globalisation)
5. Introduce and analyse global politics during the Cold War
6. Examine the Post-Cold War Era and our contemporary world
