This seminar aims at building up your knowledge of the empirical en theoretical literature in the area of public and political economics. Students are required to participate actively by presenting and discussing academic articles and do assignments. If there are more than 24 students enrolled in this seminar, students will be divided into classes of maximum 24 students. Within each class, students will read, present and discuss academic articles from the best journals in the field. Typical topics covered in the seminar include (the number of topics will depend on the number and interests of students taking this seminar): Different aspects of economic and social security policy (2/3 of course load) Politicians,bureaucrats, political systems and their effects on government policy (1/3 of the course) The precise organisation of the seminar depends on the number of students who end up being assigned to the seminar.
