Course Description: Practicing journalism in a globalized world involves navigating through various cultural environments and poses a number of challenges to journalists, who have to manage their values and those of their audiences on one hand, and those of the people in the countries from/about which they report, on the other hand. In many cases, what appears to be a key moral principle in one country might end up being a trivial issue in another place. What is held to be a fundamental legal or ethical responsibility in one country’s journalistic tradition, might be a small, neglected detail in another country’s journalistic tradition. The advent and steady development of new technologies have only exacerbated these concerns, since online journalism contents are potentially accessible anywhere, regardless of geographic boundaries that used to define who consumed which contents.
