In a time where nationalism and divisions are on the rise in some parts of the world, this course explores how people connect, share experiences and produce new content related to their favorite cultural products. How do fan groups and forums organize themselves online? How do cultural products create conflicts or encourage friendships? What is the impact of new media on community building? Do entertainment products help bridge tensions and reduce polarization between different groups?
