Course Description: 1) Frequency Response: Frequency response of the BJT and FET. Frequency response of transistor amplifier circuits – single stage transistor amplifier configurations. Performance analysis and design. Effects of multi-stage circuits on performance. Op-amp frequency response and modelling. 2) Feedback: Use of classical control theory for the analysis of the different types of amplifiers. Effects of non-ideal characteristics on system performance with single stage transistor amplifier circuits. Effects of multiple stages on stability. Op-amp circuit stability considerations. 3) Resonance and Sinusoidal oscillation: LC and LCR resonant circuits. Q-Factor and Bandwidth. Piezoelectric crystals. 4) Sinusoidal oscillators: The Barkhaussen criterion, Oscillation, Designing for exact marginal stability. Different topologies of Oscillators – LC and RC oscillators such as Colpitts, Hartley, Phase-Shift, Wien-Bridge.
