Course Description:
This course covers core chemistry concepts in a biological and physical context in the areas of organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and the energetics of matter and living systems.
This course builds upon our first trimester study program, and provides additional chemical knowledge. The aims of this course are:
(i) To introduce students to the basic theory and experimental methods of organic and inorganic chemistry.
(ii) To introduce core concepts in nuclear chemistry.
(iii) To further develop an understanding of physical chemical processes, including kinetics, equilibria, and electrochemistry.
(iv) To encourage students to apply the knowledge and skills gained to practical situations in the chemical, physical, biological, environmental, health and material sciences, and
(v) To provide generic knowledge and skills relevant to the modern workplace.
