How do we learn and use language, and how come we communicate so efficiently? This course provides you with an overview of the major topics and areas of psycholinguistics. We will look at differences between animal communication and human language, how children acquire language, what happens when we learn a second language (and why this is often so hard), how words shape our thinking and how we understand and produce sentences.
