Course Description: On completion of this module, students should be able to: - Discuss current understanding of the underlying causes for a number of mental health disorders which may include: addiction, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, dementia (due to, for example, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, mild cognitive impairment). - Explain the neurobiological changes (in terms of circuitry and neurotransmitters) underlying specific mental health disorders. - Discuss, using specific examples, pharmacological and psychological approaches available to treat such disorders. - Identfiy and evaluate empirical research relevant to key research areas concerning specific mental health disorders. - Produce written work under pressure that reflects a coherent and comprehensive line of argument
