Students will learn the main historical events that occurred in the region from the beginning
emergence of Islam to this day. The subject emphasizes the connection between past history and the problems and challenges of the present, the influence of religion, the role of actors, local, regional and international as well as the center-periphery dynamic that has contributed to shaping politics and the international relations of the Middle East.
