The main objectives of the course are to:
• Introduce students to the relationship between the Republic of Cyprus and the EC/EU from the
sixties up to now and also examine future prospects.
• Familiarize students with the Association Agreement, the Customs Union and accession to the
EU. The economic, political, social and cultural implications and repercussions of these
developments are addressed.
• Make students understand the issues related with the impact of the accession of the Republic of
Cyprus to the EU on the Cyprus question.
• Elaborate on the potential role of this island-state in the EU and beyond.
