Course Description:
Theoretical and practical knowledge of the journalistic coverage and approach to social issues -- themes, sources, and main social actors in the coverage of issues such as migration, gender, disability, etc., -- and what should be its best approach and treatment. Analysis of the relationships that journalists establish with different actors interacting in the civil sphere, from civil society organizations to unstructured groups and individual agents. Learning practical journalistic criteria and techniques needed to address some of the main specialized topics within the field of social journalism, such as education, health, environment, religion, trend stories, etc. These issues include cross-related news stories, for example, migration, racism, gender violence or disability. Development of news stories that allow capture relevant social facts, interpret, and report properly in the context of a social journalism that currently leads the many new initiatives in the digital and economic restructuring of the journalistic profession.
