Course Description: Students willing to learn World Christianity This course explores some of the major themes in the history of non western Christainity by giving Special emphasis on the role played by non western missionaries, indigenous Christian leaders and European missionaries. This course will focus on understanding history of Christianity in non western world firstly by exploring Christianity that evolved from first century in Jerusalem. Understanding how it has developed and functions in contemporary world. Second understanding Christianity that has its roots in western Christianity and studying how it has translated itself into nonwestern world by exploring how the transition has taken place, informed by specific local contexts, cultures and specific experiences of people. The students will be able to go beyond binary discourse of east and west and form their own opinion on history of Christianity.
